NHS England and its area offices are responsible for making sure everyone has access to the most effective primary care service. However, there are still many parts of the country where primary care facilities do not fully support good services. This also limits the number of services which can be transferred from hospital to community settings, and the pace of that important development.
Fulcrum has developed more than 40 primary health care buildings where GPs work alongside community health services and social care staff. Together, they offer a wider range and more appropriate health services to local people.
We helped NHS Knowsley to develop a series of excellent new buildings and now almost every practice there operates from modern, high quality facilities.
One of our developments, the Surbiton Health Centre, is home to four general practices which share space and support services. We brought our considerable experience of working with GPs on designing spaces which meet their needs and keep costs low to the planning process. Sharing treatment space, reception areas and administration services is never a straightforward matter. We understand the sensitivities and know how to help practices devise new working processes and how to support staff as they implement them.
