Waldron Health Centre Phase 1
The building is inspired by the community it will serve and the people working there. Its aim is to provide a One Stop Shop for a broad range of services. Over 6,000 sqm in size, it will comprise healthcare facilities, a civic square, housing and retail.
The centre embraces its role as a civic building in New Cross, becoming a focus for both healthcare and community activities.
Facing a new entrance square, the design underpins the contribution the centre makes to the well-being of patients, staff, visitors and the community.
Naturally-lit and easily navigated common areas reach out to the clinical suites and administration areas. A three tier circulation system avoids public traffic through departments to maintain privacy and security. Views outside are strategically placed to maximise daylight, and also to lift the spirits as the public and staff move through the centre.
The veneered exterior of the centre creates a warm and welcoming image of care and activity in the community.
